Beihai Park ( )


Beihai Park is located at the northwest corner of the Palace Museum. As early as the 10th century a secondary imperial palace was begun under the Liao Dynasty . Beihai Park consists of Round City, Jade Flower Island, and Scenic Spots on the Western and Eastern Banks. Qionghuado, the center of the park, is joined to other parts of the park via the stone bridges and the ferry. With wonderful sceneries and exquisite buildings, Beihai Park is a very famous Beijing park.

The White Dagoba

 

The 35.9 meters high dagoba is the symbol of Beihai Park. Built in 1651, it is located at the top of Qionghuadao.

The Jade Statue of Buddha

 

The statue was carved from a single piece of lustrous white jade.

The Nine-dragon Screen

 

The screen is 5 meters high, 27 meters long and 1.2 meters thick. It depicts nine dragons sporting with pearls among billowing waves.
