Xiangshan Park ( )


Xiangshan (Fragrance Hill) park is located on the eastern side of the Western Hills about 40 kilometers to the northwest of Beijing. On top of the hill, 557 meters above sea level, are two huge rocks, which are shaped like incense-burning tripods. Hence the name of the hill.

Xiangshan is a typical forest park. The sceneries are very beautiful, especially in late autumn when the tree leaves turn red. Every year Beijing people come here to enjoy the red leaves.

The Glazed-Tile Pagoda

 

Octagonal and seven-storied, the pagoda has 56 bronze bells dangling from its eaves.

 

Biyunsi

 

Constructed out of while marble, the whole building is covered with exquisite relief carvings and represents a high level of architectural skill.

Statue of the Recumbent Buddha

 

Cast out of copper in 1321, the statue weights about 54 tons and is more than 5 meters in length.
